This year we participated of the harvest of Fernão Pires, one of the most cultivated grape varieties in Portugal, during our visit to the Tejo region, promoted by CVRTejo. After harvesting and treading grapes, it was the moment to taste some wines produced from it. This reserve of the Adega do Cartaxo passes through a stage of three months in barrels of 500 liters, when the bâtonnage is realized, which consists of the periodic mixing of the wine with the fine lees that are in the bottom of the barrel. All this care results in a complex wine, with aromas that include mango and passion fruit. Elegant and gastronomic, it accompanies well-seasoned dishes and pork.
